LakeSampson.jpg

Lake Sampson is located in Roane and Clay Counties just off the Wallback exit of Interstate 79.

The  dam  impounds a 15-acre lake, providing water-related recreation activities for area outdoor enthusiasts. Facilities will include the 15-acre lake for fishing and boating, a boat launching ramp, access road, parking areas, and a walkway along the shore for fishing access.

The  lake is stocked with trout, largemouth bass, bluegills, and channel catfish.  It provides fishing opportunities in an area of the state that has a very limited number of small impoundments.  A 100 yard shooting range is  in a side hollow at the upper end of the lake. Six to eight shooting stations with shooting benches are constructed  the benches are covered with a shelter to allow use during any weather conditions. Backstops will be constructed at 100, 50, and 25 yards. The range provides area hunters a safe location to shoot.
